about

The Policing Bill has begun the removal of the right to protest. 'Plight' is where we end up if we continue to take democracy for granted.

Plight takes a journey through the eyes of the perpetrator and the apathetic public.

When will we fight to prevent our rights from being stripped away?

Is our Plight inevitable?

lyrics

“Do not resist
This is your final warning
There is a better choice
You won’t see morning”

Fear bites and calcifies the finger on the trigger
In the minds programmed to believe
They are above the law

Judge, jury and executioner
Where are our rights?
They’re being stripped away
What we all take for granted is finite

A new day dawns again
Life restarts anew
Accept the next time you protest
They might choose to arrest you

“It’s not my problem, Jack”
Some may say
But there might be a right
You wish to uphold one day

“That’s it, we’re coming in
It’s gone too far
You’re making too much racket
The language is too crass”

Is this what you really want?
An opportunity to be silenced
Ignoring the right to protest
Will only lead to riots

A new day dawns again
Life restarts anew
Accept the next time you protest
They might choose to arrest you

“It’s not my war to fight”
Some may say
This situation will escalate
If we turn our eyes away

We let it go too far
a line’s been crossed
Picked off one by one
Until there’s nothing left to be lost

It’s getting close to the cliff edge
We must push back
Falling with all our comforts
Down to the rocks
Tumbling, dropping
The sense of self is crumbling

Lying in the jagged broken earth
Some may say “we chose to jump first”
Turning on each other we attack
Ignoring the knives plunged in our backs

A new day dawns again
Life restarts anew
Accept the next time you protest
No one’s going to fucking hear you

“This is all your fault”
Some may say
“You have no right to complain sir,
Move along or be tased”
